The TESOL Test (Cycle 2 & 3) is designed to assess teachers’ knowledge and skills in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages for Grades 3–12. The test evaluates linguistic knowledge, teaching methodology, CEFR alignment, assessment literacy, and second language acquisition principles necessary for effective English language instruction.
1. Arabic Transfer (8%) – 10 Questions
Focuses on first-language interference, common Arabic-to-English transfer errors, and contrastive analysis strategies.
2. Assessment Literacy (8%) – 10 Questions
Covers formative and summative assessment, rubrics, feedback strategies, and data-driven instruction.
3. Phonology, IPA & Linguistics (16%) – 20 Questions
Assesses understanding of phonetics, International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), stress, intonation, morphology, syntax, and semantics.
4. Error Identification (8%) – 10 Questions
Evaluates ability to identify, analyze, and correct learner language errors.
5. Parts of Speech (12%) – 15 Questions
Covers grammar knowledge including nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and sentence structure.
6. CEFR Knowledge (12%) – 15 Questions
Focuses on understanding CEFR levels (A1–C2), descriptors, proficiency benchmarks, and alignment of teaching objectives.
7. CEFR Writing (8%) – 10 Questions
Assesses knowledge of writing criteria, genre expectations, coherence, cohesion, and CEFR-aligned assessment.
8. Methods & Young Learners (24%) – 30 Questions
The largest domain; includes communicative language teaching (CLT), task-based learning (TBL), classroom management, differentiation, and strategies for teaching young and adolescent learners.
9.Second Language Acquisition (4%) – 5 Questions
Covers SLA theories, input/output hypotheses, interlanguage development, and factors affecting language learning.
