The Social Studies Test (Cycle 2 & 3) is designed to assess teachers’ knowledge of core social science disciplines and their ability to integrate historical, civic, geographic, economic, and sociological concepts. The test evaluates both content knowledge and higher-order thinking skills required for effective teaching in upper primary and secondary levels.
1. History (10%) – 10 Questions
Focuses on major historical events, civilizations, global developments, cause and effect, continuity and change, and historical interpretation.
2. Civics (10%) – 10 Questions
Covers government systems, citizenship, rights and responsibilities, rule of law, and civic participation.
3. Geography (10%) – 10 Questions
Assesses physical and human geography, maps, climate, population distribution, and environmental interactions.
4. Sociology (10%) – 10 Questions
Includes social structures, institutions, culture, socialization, diversity, and contemporary social issues.
5. Economics (10%) – 10 Questions
Focuses on basic economic principles, supply and demand, markets, trade, resources, and economic systems.
6. Information Literacy & Information Processing (10%) – 10 Questions
Evaluates ability to analyze sources, interpret data, assess credibility, and process information critically.
7. Moral Education (10%) – 10 Questions
Covers ethics, values, tolerance, respect, global citizenship, and character development.
8. Culture, Heritage & Identity (10%) – 10 Questions
Focuses on national identity, cultural diversity, traditions, heritage preservation, and intercultural understanding.
9. Social Science Integration, Interpretation & Expression (20%) – 1 Constructed Response
The highest-weighted domain; assesses the ability to integrate multiple social science disciplines, interpret data or historical evidence, and present structured, analytical written responses.
