The Mathematics Test (Cycle 2 – Grade 3–8) is designed to assess teachers’ mathematical content knowledge and problem-solving skills required to effectively teach upper primary and lower secondary students. The test evaluates conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and application of mathematical principles across key domains.
1. Number and Quantity (22%) – 22 Questions
Focuses on number sense, whole numbers, fractions, decimals, integers, ratios, proportions, and real number operations.
2. Algebra (22%) – 22 Questions
Covers expressions, equations, inequalities, patterns, functions, and algebraic reasoning appropriate for Grades 3–8.
3. Geometry and Measurement (20%) – 20 Questions
Includes shapes, angles, area, perimeter, volume, coordinate geometry, and measurement concepts.
4. Probability and Statistics (18%) – 18 Questions
Assesses data interpretation, graphs, measures of central tendency, probability concepts, and statistical reasoning.
5. Secondary Topics (18%) – 18 Questions
May include problem-solving strategies, mathematical modeling, logic, number theory basics, and integrated real-world applications.
